Started in 1982 as Don McLaren Dairy Equipment, McLaren Equipment Ltd became a John Deere dealership in 1994 and changed focus towards Commercial Lawn and Garden and Commercial Construction Equipment for the Barrie, Simcoe County, Parry Sound and Muskoka areas.

In 1996 Don's son Jaret McLaren became involved in the family-business.   Since that time, McLaren Equipment has bucked the trend of being part of a dealership network or corporately-owned and has continued to be a true family owned and operated, boots to the ground establishment proudly serving our community.

Today McLaren Equipment employs eighteen people including certified-technicians for John Deere, Stihl, Boss Snowplow and the rest of our commercial and residential offerings.

Giving back to our community since inception McLaren Equipment are sponsors of the North Central Predators Midget AAA Hockey Team, Barrie Sharks AA, Barrie Women’s Hockey Association, Barrie Colts, RVH Charity of Angels, Guys that Give, Ripple of Kindness, Springwater Foodbank Sponsorships, and several local community endeavors, personal crisis funding, local snowmobile clubs, Ducks Unlimited and many more.
